I will post the update in my head covering our trip to Chicago. Coles Notes version--we went, we loved it and I came home sick. But I will elaborate and share some snapshots, just not right now. Be back soon!

Vacation Re-Cap: Princess Cays (Beach Day)

So Princess Cays is a private Island that Princess uses for a Beach day. I love it there and it is sooo relaxing. The Island is off of Eleuthera, one of the Islands in the Bahamas. It is the perfect chance to relax and just play. Frankly, the cruise was not too relaxing. Especially since we spent three days getting up really early and being really busy.

Here is the ship, anchored off the Island. We had to take little tenders from the ship to shore.

 

Like I said, Taylor loves the Beach.

 

 

Wow, looking at these pictures really makes me miss the Sun, sand and surf. It is just such a beautiful place to visit. We think this was a good cruise for the kids. They loved the Ship and all it had to offer. The excursions went really well. The kids were amazing on them considering we are talking about a 3 yr old and a 6 yr old. I had several people comment through out the cruise how well the kids did. They truly had a ball. I don't think we pushed them at all. I look forward to the next one. I find cruising a great vacation and especially good with kids.

I forgot to post a picture of this little guy in the last post. He was watching us while we were swimming at the Marine Park in Grand Cayman. So cute...

   

Greetings from a Winter Wonderland

I am loving this weather. I would take snow over rain any day. I think it helps that when it is snowy, it has been sunny and our Jimmy is a real trooper in the snow. I come from the land of snowy winters (Edmonton, AB and Nova Scotia) originally, so I am used to the white stuff/cold. I can still feel my skin so we aren't too hard done by yet.

Well, the big day is almost here. Almost all our shopping is done and we will be wrapping tonight. I think the kids will be happy with what they are getting. I hope Santa has been successful with his list. Scott is off for two weeks and that is always nice. Me, I am not off for two weeks:)

But I will be off starting February 6th. Since that is when we will be hopping on this big guy...or is it big lady?

   

As a Christmas surprise, I booked a week-long Western Caribbean (Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Cozumel and Princess Cays,Bahamas) cruise on the Ruby Princess. Now, I am not completely crazy here. We were planning on a vacation in Feb. or March and Scott had said (repeatedly) we should do a cruise. It turned out that I told Scott today and he is excited. This will be our fourth cruise, but it will be the kids first. I am so excited to see their reaction when we board the ship. I think Evan is most excited about the amount of buffet eating that is possible. Taylor is most excited about the amount of swimming that will be possible. I really hope the weather is good. I know we ran into some cloudy weather when we did the Eastern Caribbean cruise and that was in March. But even the less than perfect Caribbean weather is better than our weather:) There are kids activities as well, if they get bored. I think we will have a blast. February cannot come fast enough.

Time to put the kids to bed. I may or may not post again before Christmas. I hope you have a Happy Holiday Season and take some time to enjoy your loved ones.

Home Again, Home Again

So we survived Sin City and made it back home. Four nights is the perfect length of time for me to spend in Vegas. This trip was a treat because we left all the kids at home and were able to have some "adult" time. Big thanks to the Grandparents W. for watching the kids while we went off and played.

What trip to Las Vegas would be complete without a few trips to the Buffet? There is a yummy one at the Planet Hollywood Hotel. We spent some time by the pool, swimming and soaking up some sun. As much as I want to be able to lay by the pool for hours, I just can't pull it off. It was just too hot and then I feel claustrophobic.

I think Las Vegas has to be one of the best places to people watch. You can truly see it all and then some. We spent our last night sitting in a lounge in Mandalay Bay listening to a really good Band and watching some very interesting people. Amazing what a few (or too many) drinks and some good music can encourage a person to do. I must also say we certainly saw the influence of the show Dancing with the Stars on the dance floor. There were quite a few couples breaking out the Ballroom moves on the floor. It didn't matter if the song was slow or fast. It was also amusing to watch couples trying to out dance each other. Arthur Murray instructors everywhere should be proud:)

Scott and I went to see Wayne Brady perform and it was a really good show. I was a bit skeptical but ended up really enjoying it. There was some very good/funny improv and then he finished the Show by performing a Song/Dance review. He is actually a very good singer and can dance too.

Sad to say we didn't win any big jackpots while we were there. Scott won some money on a couple of slot machines and I won a bit on a machine. I am not much of a risk taker on the slots. Give me a penny or nickel machine and I am happy.

It is nice to be home and sleeping in our own bed. I sure love my bed, it is the most comfy bed ever created. By the last day, I was really missing the kids and wanted to get home. It was great seeing them and getting lots of hugs and kisses. They had a great time at home though. Evan says he thought he had more fun then we did.

Boy was I put in my place last night. Evan and I played Shrek on the Xbox and he whupped my butt. I must have ZERO hand/eye coordination. It was so bad that Evan would take my controller and get me to the next level. Ouch. He is such a sweet boy, I gave up and he took my controller and finished my game so I wouldn't finish with no points.

Well it is Father's Day and we have SUN!!!! Yippee. Hope all the Father's out there have a great day.
